Memorial Day Honors
– As we celebrate Memorial Day, we honor those that have fought and died for
freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with those currently fighting in the Middle East. May soldiers soon be reunited with their
families and may peace come to our world. Special thoughts and thanks to all
those that have lost a member of their family this year.

Gyspy Moth Traps Set
in 48 Counties – Approximately 32,400 traps will be set all over Wisconsin to catch the
invasive Gypsy Moths. Gypsy moths are known to defoliate many species of trees
and shrubs, especially oaks. Control of the spread of the moths is a priority.
Gypsy moths are most destructive in their larvae stage, the traps are set for
adult males to know areas that needs spray treatment the next year. Two
different traps are used: a detla trap that looks like a bird house and a milk
carton trap that looks like a milk carton. Please leave traps if you see them.
In addition, remember purple traps have been set for another potential invasive
bug – the emerald ash borer. More information on Gyspy Moths can be viewed at
the DATCP website.
Do NOT Transport
Firewood – An additional reminder that NO firewood should be transported
around Wisconsin or from outside of Wisconsin into our
forest areas. In an attempt to stop the spread of the emerald ash borer the DNR
has banned the transport of firewood. If the bugs invade Wisconsin, masses of trees will have to be
cut down in an attempt to save other ash trees. More info on Emerald Ash Borer
can be viewed at the DATCP website.
