ADVISORY: Erpenbach to Hold Health Care Listening Session at Green County Fair Saturday

Madison – State Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton), chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, is inviting the public to a listening session on health care and the Senate Democrats’ “Healthy Wisconsin” plan to ensure everyone in Wisconsin has access to the same health care coverage enjoyed by members of the State Legislature. The listening session is the latest in a series of on-going committee hearings and town halls Senate Democrats have held over the past year and will be held this Saturday, July 21 at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Democratic booth.

“All Wisconsin residents and employees will be provided health care with the doctor and provider of their choice, regardless of preexisting conditions,” said Erpenbach. “Current employer and employee health care costs would fall by billion of dollars in just the first year alone under ‘Healthy Wisconsin.’”

WHO: Senator Jon Erpenbach, Senate Health and Human Services Chair

WHAT: Listening Session on “Healthy Wisconsin: Your Choice. Your Plan”

WHEN: Saturday, July 21, 2007, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Green County Fair, County Fairgrounds - Democratic Booth, Monroe

“You deserve the same health care you pay for those of us in the state legislature to have,” said Erpenbach. “‘Healthy Wisconsin’ reduces costs, improves quality and puts you back in control. You and your doctor are in charge, not some big insurance company or bureaucrat. You choose your doctor and you choose your provider.”

The Senate Democrats’ “Healthy Wisconsin” plan has received bipartisan praise from across Wisconsin and nationally, including from Joe Leean, former Governor Tommy Thompson’s Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Services.
