Madison … Today's record prices at the gas pump will also mean record home heating bills a few months

fromnow, and Senator Dale Schultz says homeowners can fight back.

"Focus on Energy is a state program designed to help homeowners find resources and financial assistance to save both energy and money," said the Richland Center Republican.  “Even though it's August and its hot, right now is the time to contact Focuson Energy and plan for the very costly heating season ahead.  By preparing

now, homeowners can save costs this winter and Focus on Energy can help.”

Focus on Energy helps homeowners and businesses install energy-efficient and renewable energy equipment to heat, light and power their home and business.  Individuals save money and the larger community benefits when, for example, construction of an additional power plant is avoided.  The program is funded by a small fee on utility bills and Schultz says the program is a "net win" for energy consumers.

Every dollar invested in the program yields about five dollars in energy savings and economic benefits for

consumers,” said Schultz.

Schultz cited rebates on Energy Star lighting, appliances, heating and cooling equipment, insulation and renewable energy projects as examples of how Focus on Energy can help reduce your energy bill.

“Focus on Energy has expert consultants who can conduct a thorough inspection of all the systems in your home and identify ways to save energy,” said Schultz.  “In some cases

they even offer cash back rewards.”
