Statement on Latest Business Climate Rankings
Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) issued the following statement on this week’s announcements from the Tax Foundation and Forbes magazine, which ranked our state’s business tax climate as the country’s 9th worst and ranked Wisconsin as the third-worst state for business, respectively:
“These are the rankings we earn when we pass state budgets that increase taxes by $5 billion and pile expensive mandates on job providers.
“These rankings matter because businesses refer to them when it’s time to consider locations for a new plant or office. When Wisconsin’s business climate rankings are among the country’s worst, we’ve already lost the game before it even started.
“Republicans’ warnings about the consequences of the Democrats’ taxing and spending binge went unheeded during the budget debate earlier this year. I sincerely hope the legislature spends the balance of this session trying to undo the damage of this budget.”
