In celebration of June Dairy Month, this bibliography assembles current publications available on the status of the dairy industry and the public policy issues facing dairy farmers and processors in Wisconsin. All of the documents are available online.

Alternatives to the National Cheese Exchange As Part of the Dairy Pricing System. (Sen. Hearing 105-131) U.S. Senate, 1997. (614.370/X7) The testimonies in this Senate hearing document much of the rationale for why the National Cheese Exchange was eliminated in 1997. Animal Disease Risk Assessment, Prevention, and Control Act of 2001 (PL 107-9) Final Report. Prepared by the PL 107-9 Federal Inter-agency Working Group, January 2003. (614.9/X3) Outlines the worldwide impact of Foot and Mouth Disease and "Mad Cow Disease", evaluates the potential threat posed to the United States, and makes recommendations to federal and state agencies to prevent the spread of these diseases here. Dairy Policy Issues. Ralph M. Chite (Issue Brief for Congress from CRS Web), U.S. Congressional Research Service, Updated April 18, 2003. Mad Cow Disease: Improvements in the Animal Feed Ban and Other Regulatory Areas Would Strengthen U.S. Prevention Efforts. U.S. General Accounting Office, January 2002. Status of Wisconsin Agriculture. University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dept. of Agricultural and Applied Economics, 2003.
